“At Renbu Dojo, we provide customized guidance that evolves regularly, free of any jargon and ambiguity, and that generates curiosity, excitement and elevation.”
What do these words mean…?
“Customized guidance…
We create a lesson structure that is best suited for the audience, whatever level they are at, and then provide high-touch teaching that is specific to each and every one of our students.
High touch is working and conversing with each student individually as each and every student understands and interprets the lessons differently and has different challenges and needs.
that evolves regularly…
Understanding that the amount of learning that our students can enjoy is limitless and that learning new skills and concepts can be exciting, we endeavour to create a lesson plan that adjusts and changes regularly.
Priorities will change and they often reflect the evolving skill sets and gaps that occur.
free of any jargon and ambiguity…
We provide clear and specific instructions that eliminate all misunderstandings to build trust and a pathway to success.
Sometimes the instructional ‘recipe’ will be similar to baking — where the instructions must be followed to a ‘t’ or else success is hard to achieve (more science-driven and precise), while other times the instructional format is similar to cooking, where instructions are flexible to account for the many possible different outcomes (more art-driven).
We employ both techniques as needed with clear and transparent guidelines.
that generates curiosity,
For Kendo and all sport and martial arts, the challenge is all in the mind. And if the mind is engaged, then the “richness” of the activity makes the sport that much more intriguing and fun.
We challenge you.
We make the students think!
excitement,
And if they think more, and understand and embrace new concepts, they begin thinking of how they can own and incorporate these learnings into their daily kendo.
You know what happens? They get excited!
It makes them looking forward to practicing more and loving kendo more as they imagine the future possibilities…. (like national teams involvement!)
and elevation.”
Lastly, as they start incorporating these learnings into their kendo, they see the results!
They see their hard work lifting their kendo above others and they see their skills elevating day by day, week by week and month by month.
This cycle makes them “double down” on what they are doing and makes them come back for more, further opening their hearts and minds up to more and more kendo instruction.
We are a small group of dedicated enthusiasts, young and old.
We hope you join us to experience learning this beautiful martial art of kendo here at Renbu Dojo.
