Past Positions:
All Japan Kendo Federation President (2022−2025)
Tokai University 東海大学 Head of Kendo

Background
Tadahiro Ajiro Sensei has been a regular instructor at regional and international FIK seminars, with an emphasis on referee training. He has been actively involved throughout his career in spreading Kendo’s philosophy and practice internationally, through countless interviews, seminars, and championships.
Shinpan and Shinsa Panelist
Actively involved in the FIK’s Shiai (match) and Shinpan (referee) committees, he has influenced recent updates to regulations and procedures. He served as the Head of the AJKF Referee Committee, as noted in the English edition of the AJKF’s “Kendo Shiai, Shinpan, Unei-Yōryō no Tebiki” published in 2021.
Prior to being appointed as president of the AJKF and FIK, he had been on multiple 6 dan, 7 dan, and 8 dan panels as well as serving as a shinpan at World Kendo Championships.
Research
He published 剣道の正面打突動作に関する研究 -八段者と三段者の比較 (A Biomechanical Study of an Attacking Front KENDO Stroke – A Comparison between 8th Dan and 3rd Dan) while at Tokai University, amongst his many published research pieces.
Ajiro Sensei has highlighted how Kendo’s global appeal is rooted not only in martial skill but also in its disciplined spirit and cultural alignment with mutual respect and mental fortitude. He has served on many international FIK shinpan panels and travelled extensively to Europe, Asia and North America in his numerous roles.
Under Ajiro Sensei’s leadership, both federations—in Japan and internationally—have expanded Kendo’s global footprint. As of July 2024, the FIK counts 64 affiliated nations and regions.
Renbu Dojo is pleased to offer a week-long learning experience with Ajiro Sensei. Through these in-depth sessions, we hope to increase our knowledge of basics, shinpan, shinsa, and improve our instructional skills.
Unlike “one day-and-done” seminars, this week-long experience will allow kendo-ka to peel through layers of complexity and abstractness to dive deep into tangible and actionable takeaways for better lifelong kendo.
